Richmond Coal River Region

Richmond is a thriving community only 20 minutes commuting from Hobart’s CBD, university, wilderness, beaches, is located in the Coal River Valley, within Tasmania’s renown wine region – flush with award winning vineyards, cellar doors and restaurants.The village of Richmond is Australia’s oldest Georgian village with sandstone cottages and English cottage gardens, antique shops to tempt and a range of cosmopolitan cafes, restaurants & tourist shops to enjoy.The village has the Coal River flowing through it which runs under Australia’s oldest used sandstone convict built bridge, looking up to the oldest Australian Catholic Church. St Lukes Anglican Church is also a fine example of sandstone workmanship. Also of historic significance is the 1850’s model goal.

There is always a selection of houses available for rent or purchase – from original sandstone cottages, to homes on acreage. Alternatively, apartments or houses are available in Hobart, a simple 20 minute highway run – in fact, between Richmond and Hobart there is only 1 traffic light!
